Do what they do, not what they teach
This rule will save you thousands
I'm old enough to tell you to be careful of what you consume online.
Not everything online is true.
Here's one of my favourite quotes from a leader I admire.

I've been seeing lots of course sellers peddling AI agency courses.
Let's get this straight.
You're "making it" with an AI agency. Doing hundreds of thousands a month. Clients are begging to work with you. And you're swamped with work.
But somehow... you have enough time to:
- Record daily IG posts
- Post 6 times a day on Threads
- Host weekly webinars
- Sell a course on how you can do it too
- Run a community
As someone who puts out webinars, workshops, and events, I can tell you that all of the above takes a LOT of work.
Building the registration page, writing the emails, creating content, running ads, repositioning, reminding people to show up.
Sure, you have AI to help you.
But you can't discount the work needed.
My advice?
The next time you see a guru selling a course:
- Check if they have done whatever they are teaching.
- Do what they do, not what they teach.
That's why I focus on bringing practitioners.
Not people whose main revenue is selling courses.
This week, I've got two of them for you.
Tomorrow, 22nd Sept – Building a Founder Brand with Claudia

Claudia runs My Franchise Guide. Her content is about the business of franchising.
About a year ago, she moved back to Malaysia from the US and built a 40,000 following by making and posting content.
That has led to her working with brands like CelcomDigi, Manhattan Fish, Oldtown... all of them came as organic inquiries from her social media channels.
I thought that was amazing, so I've invited Claudia to share her content process, and exactly how she built her founder brand in a webinar.
Save your seat here - 22nd Sept (That's tomorrow)
Wednesday, 23rd Sept – Breaking Barriers with King Quah

17 years of building. First 8-figure business by 25. 250+ staff across five countries. Two exits.
I'm hosting a get-together for King Quah, CEO of Saltycustoms, to share what he has learned from Silicon Valley to ZGC, Beijing, the birthplace of Huawei, Xiaomi, and Popmart.
There will be conversations on:
- Leadership, management and building a borderless business.
- Building pipelines and opportunities
- Thoughts on how some of the world’s fastest-moving companies think and operate
- Open conversations, questions, and idea-sharing
So much to take away from a morning.
