I wasted tons of $ on this Facebook ad feature
When AI murders your ad performance
Over the past year or so, I've been fed up with Meta AI features.
More than good, they do more damage.
And what's crazy is that Meta ads interface is supposed to be the "simpler" interface, compared to platforms like Google Ads.
Meta has been experimenting with AI features. Your ads automatically get "enhanced" with text added, new creatives generated, and even random music added to them.

These AI enhancements cost us A LOT of wasted ad budget.
For a really long time, you had to manually turn them off when setting up an ad. Click, click, click.

And of course, once in a while, someone will miss something. The ad would go off doing its own thing in the wild.
Today, you can turn this monstrous feature once and for all.
- Open your Meta Ads Manager
- Navigate to the sidebar > Advertising Settings.
- Click on Creative features.
- Uncheck "Test new creative features"

Or watch the reel I just posted on Daily CMO's Instagram.
AI is amazing. But I won't be handing my creativity to it.
Here's the thing.
Meta's AI doesn't know my audience. I do. So whatever it "optimises" is never going to land the way something made for them will.
Which is why I'm looking forward to Underdog Content Con. A room of 100+ founders and marketers, meeting and networking in real-life.
One thing you'll notice about the speakers we've invited. They share content made from their real-life experiences. Not made-up AI carousels or AI-generated faces.
And that's the whole point of content. Optimize for trust, not virality.
