The Speedee Service System

Here's what made McDonald's a USD218.45 billion dollar company.

The Speedee Service System

In 1940, McDonald's was a successful drive-in restaurant selling burgers. But several factors ate into their profits. Expensive menus were rarely ordered, and they used actual dishes that got lost or broken.

Then, in 1948, the McDonald brothers rebuilt the restaurant. They reduced their menu to just nine profitable items. And created the Speedee Service System, an innovation that applied assembly lines to make burgers, cutting down waiting time from 30 minutes to 30 seconds.

The Speedee Service System became the standard for fast-food restaurants.

Today, we see this system everywhere:

  • Luckin Coffee
  • Mixue
  • Subway

In E-Myth, Michael Gerber advises entrepreneurs to be systems-dependent, and not people-dependent.

Could it be that your marketing isn't where you want it to be, because of systems?

Think about how many hours you waste managing data on your CRM. How many clients decided to go with a competitor because you replied just a little late?

Businesses that want to grow, must build systems.

The question to ask yourself: If you stop working on your marketing for a week, will it continue to run itself? Will there be someone (or an AI agent) replying to leads? Will data be automatically cleaned and stored, ready for follow-ups? Will follow-up messages be automatically scheduled, or are you still doing every task manually?
