How I reactivate email subscribers
Want replies and sales from an unresponsive list? Start with this one email.

I’ve not met a business that didn’t have a list of contacts that they have not contacted for some time.
What a waste.
Email marketing isn’t tactical. It’s psychological.
The reason businesses don’t get results with email is because they were too tactical. “How can we convert them?” “What is the best email sequence?”
Get out of your own head.
The reason you email is because you want to help. Not to squeeze a dollar out of someone.
Once you shift your mindset, emailing even a dead list becomes easy.
Reactivating a dead email list
In 2020, when everything shut down, I taught an online workshop and grew a list of 800+ subscribers. Then I stopped emailing the list.
2 years later, I was looking for ways to promote a conference, and thought of reaching out to the 800+ subscribers.
Problem is if I were to email and say, “Hey, join my conference!” I’ll probably be canceled. (Nobody likes being sold to). Instead, I sent an email saying hello, thanked them, and said I won’t be emailing them anymore.
Here’s the email:
I got a few replies (which were great).
And a couple of clicks (and sales!) to the conference I was promoting.
When you show up with generosity, email marketing will work.
Here’s an email script to reactivate a dead list:
Hi [Name],
It’s been a while since I dropped you an email.
And that’s on me.
I’ve been quietly working on [quick update: e.g., helping businesses grow/building new projects / learning new things].
But now, I’m back and I want to make sure this is still useful to you.
I’ll be sharing [what they can expect from future emails, like tips, stories, updates, tools, etc.], and I want to respect your inbox.
If you’re still in, you don’t need to do anything.
But if this isn’t relevant anymore, you can unsubscribe anytime at the bottom.

Send it to a list you’ve not engaged in a while. Come back here and tell me how that worked out.
Send 10,000 emails per month, free.

Enginemailer lets you send up to 10,000 emails per month, free. After that, you only pay for what you send (not who’s on your list).
Need to send more? It’s roughly RM200 for 75,000 emails/month. Way cheaper than email tools like Mailchimp.
And for Daily CMO readers, they’re doing something extra (until 6th June only):
- Free migration
- Free setup and email template build
- 50% off your bill for 3 months
