“How many AI tools do you pay for?”
Most people only pay for one AI tool (if any). So why would they subscribe to yours?

I sat down with an e-Commerce business owner last week.
“How many AI tools do you pay for?”
Umm. I mean, I pay for the AI add-on in Loom…
“No, how many AI standalone do you pay for?”
One. ChatGPT.
Exactly.
I was discussing with another friend, also at the table, about developing our own AI tool and charging a subscription.
When he stopped me and made me realize that the average user probably subscribes to only one AI tool – if they ever. What would make them want to subscribe to yet another AI tool?
Two ways from here:
- Create an AI tool as a complementary bonus to your main product or service.
- Go ahead and create the AI tool you want. But don’t call it an AI app. Every SaaS app these days is expected to have AI development in it.
- META ads with AI creative optimization
- Loom video with AI summaries
- Zoom with AI companion
AI is now an expected feature.
Your turn now. How many AI tools do you actively pay for? Drop a comment.
