I remember running a whole Facebook ad campaign with just RM50.

RM50!

And I filled a whole room for a music production workshop I was running at that time. This was sometime around 2011.

More than half of the participants had gone home when the photo was taken

Lately? It’s been a lot of testing – audience, creative, budget, ABO, CBO… Any marketer will tell you getting predictable returns with ads alone has become harder these days.

Anyway, I just had some ice cream, so let me tell you about Inside Scoop.

When they started in 2013, all they did was post on Facebook. Word of mouth was enough to draw crowds to their outlet in Bangsar. People lined up just to have a scoop.

Through the years, getting attention through organic posts alone isn’t enough. As more businesses started promoting on social media, the competition for attention grew.

Of course, Inside Scoop didn’t stay that way.

Observe their marketing, and you’ll see they’ve leaned into collaborations, jumped on TikTok trends, continued launching seasonal offers, and turned their marketing into an ongoing experiment.

They grew from a single store to dozens. And in 2023, they attracted an investment from Farm Fresh to scale further.

The point is this: What worked yesterday in marketing is not going to work today.

In my years of marketing, I’ve never seen the industry shifting so fast. And it’s about to shift even faster.

Tonight, I’ll share some of the biggest marketing shifts & moves you can make for your business, live on YouTube
