This morning I Googled "landing page tips" and clicked on one of the top results:
I'm convinced that most websites you find online are "made for SEO" and don't provide actually good information.
Yes, there are some OK tips there, like "Be Mobile-Friendly"...
But take a look at this tip:
Are you serious?
You can spend a whole week testing colors, turning your landing page purple, red, blue or use all the colors of the rainbow – and see no significant improvement in conversions.
Because let's face it.
What your customer truly wants – is if you can SOLVE their problem. Period.
If you had the cure to cancer, do you think it matters if your landing page was red, orange or blue?
So why do people focus on cosmetic fixes and hacks? Two reasons.
- Because it's fun to talk about these hacks.
- And because it gets them traffic.
It's like talking about using 10 different apps to get in shape. When what you really need is to fix your mindset and schedule a 20-mins run everyday.
Stop focusing on the wrong things. Focus on the BIG wins.
