Imagine going on a date.

2 days ago, you swiped right on an attractive person, and that person swiped right too!

It's D-DAy. You walk into the restaurant. Your hands are sweaty. Your heart feels like it's about to jump out from your chest. Scanning around the restaurant, you realize that you're early. You sit down at the table. To battle your anxiety, you thumb away at your phone – trying to act busy.

Suddenly your date walks in.

Your heart beats faster. "Don't screw this up!" you tell yourself.

"Hi..hell..o. Please take a... seat".

Throughout the date – you began to feel more comfortable. Your date asks you a few questions in a judgment-free way, you respond and somehow you begin to click with your date.

"Wow, he/she truly understands me."

And that, ladies and gentlemen – is the secret to dating. You listen, ask questions, and seek to understand.

In other words, be a good listener.

How to listen

Turns out there are techniques to listen as well. Here are two techniques:

  • Labeling
  • Mirroring

Watch how FBI negotiator, Chris Voss uses them in the video below. I promise this would be the best 10 minutes you'll spend to become an effective listener & communicator in both your personal and professional life.

Marketers never stop learning

Every day something new comes up. Strategies that work yesterday may not work tomorrow. Great marketers are consistent with learning. The recordings from Underdog E-Commerce Con are the perfect place to start.

To celebrate the joy of Raya, we're giving away a limited-edition Underdog Essential Tee when you get the recording access.
