Welcome to Marketing Mondays.

Some nuggets for you this week.

Strategy of the week: UGC Marketing

Few months back, I created and posted a video about a sports recovery sleeve.

See it on Instagram

A friend had given me his newest product to try. Out of fun, I put on a “creator hat” and made a video. A few days after posting, the company ran the video as an ad.

Suddenly, I started receiving messages from friends.

“Hey bro, saw you with the sleeve. Is it good? Would you recommend it”
"How long does it last?"
"Oh, you're an influencer now, huh?"

Wouldn’t lie. The little attention was nice.

But essentially, I realized that I became a salesman for the product. Yonks!

That's also when I realized how effective User-Generated Content (UGC) was, due to its relatability and authenticity. (To be fair, I mostly received messages from other men like me.)

Now, imagine if the company had 100 people (like me) talking about their products. What would their revenue look like?

What's up in marketing💡

  • Here’s a FREE AI marketing course by Hubspot. We don’t have a shortage of information. We have a shortage of action.
  • Paddle Pop. Paddle Pop. Super duper yummy! Here’s how brands use Nolstalgia to market
  • Everyone says you need email pop-ups. But says how to make effective ones. Here are 40+ email pop-ups and why they work.
  • We received many conversions that were “zero-click” from the past Underdog Con. People saw our ad & videos but ended up Googling us when they wanted to buy.

Deal of the week 🤝

Is UGC marketing expensive? Like paying RM50,000 for an influencer to post one photo?

Nope.

With Cult Creative, you can get creators to create content starting from about RM500± per video. Yes, really.

You’ll get another 10% discount (let me know if you were denied the discount), when you sign up through this link and write “Daily CMO” in the Company Name field.

Here’s the link again (Remember to write “Daily CMO”)

Video of the week 📹

If everyone is doing it, you’re too late.

That’s why I love UGC marketing. It's not saturated as compared to something like Facebook ads.

Watch me ask Shermaine, founder of Cult Creative, practical UGC marketing questions in a recent interview:

  • How many UGC videos to create a successful campaign?
  • Paid ads vs UGC marketing.
  • How to make UGC marketing work
  • Examples of successful UGC marketing.
  • And more...
