All profit is derived from risk
- Peter Drucker

Have you ever looked at someone in a managerial role – like a CEO, and thought to yourself, "Why is he getting paid so much? When we're doing all the work!"?

For years, I've tried to find the answer in marketing.

Take SEO.

The effort taken to rank a preschool's website and a SaaS business' website with a 50 million annual revenue – might be the same. Yet, you'll be rewarded more for ranking the SaaS business site.

Why?

Because like CEOs, they focus on solving bigger problems.

When you're starting out sure, you might not have the chance or experience to solve big problems yet. But as you complete more marketing projects and grow your acumen, you should ascend to solving bigger problems.

As Peter Drucker wrote, the world is complex, unpredictable, and ambiguous. There will always be risk and problems for entrepreneurs and marketers like you to solve.
