You should get the blue tick

What started as a routine ad campaign ended with me being banned for “human trafficking”. That’s when I saw the truth – we’re not the ones in charge.

You should get the blue tick

“Meta Verified” is a subscription for creators and businesses to tell the world your profile is authentic, and to build credibility with your audience.

I used to question why anybody should subscribe to it.

Today, I advise you to subscribe to Meta Verified as soon as possible.

You have no control

Two weeks ago, I got hit with the worst kind of Facebook ban: A personal account ban.

If you’ve been running ads on Meta long enough, it’s almost inevitable. You might face a page ban, an ad account ban, or the dreaded personal account ban (like I did).

Once my personal account was banned, I lost access to everything: ad accounts, Business Managers, and more. (Meta’s TOS requires a personal account to be linked to any business account.)

It was a stressful week, especially with live campaigns still running.

So, what happened?

According to Meta, I violated their community standards by “promoting human trafficking.”

In reality, I had just run ads for a client in the recruitment space.

I appealed, got my account reinstated – only for it to be permanently disabled again the very next day.

That’s when it hit me:

You have zero control over your social media accounts.

Where Meta Verified comes in

Apart from “showing the world you’re authentic”, being Meta Verified also gives you access to support via chat.

I still had access to my Instagram account, so I purchased a Meta Verified subscription and began reaching out to support for help.

I wish I could say that solved everything. But as of now, my account is still disabled.

I haven’t given up, though. Word is, if you keep trying, you might (and I repeat – you might) eventually reach an actual human who can help.

But who knows? Meta’s a monopoly, and we’re not in control.

Paying for Meta Verified feels a bit like a bribe (and it kind of is), but it’s your best shot at getting support when things go wrong.

So until you’ve built a big enough, self-sustaining turf of your own (your audience list/community), subscribing to a RM41.99/month Meta Verified subscription is worth the trouble.

Get META Verified

I get it. You think you’re 100% legit. I think I’m 100% legitimate too.

And still, I was placed in Meta jail for “human trafficking.”

That’s wild.

Go get Meta verified now

Will share more about this and what you can do to start building your own moat. Just remember, running a business on “rented space” is one of the riskiest things you can do.
