I replaced my entire team with this AI agent...
Everything AI now is about doom and gloom. But on top of it all, know that the market functions on hype.
The moment you open your phone and go to Instagram, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, anywhere.
You see the same thing.
I replaced my entire content team with OpenClaw
Photoshop is dead. This AI tool is killing it.
Thousands of people are going to lose their jobs and be homeless
And... It's just not true.
Is AI going to change everything? Yes. But not the way you see it today.
If you're one of those businesses with "AI guilt" (many business owners are), feeling that you might be losing it in the AI adoption race, this post may offer a different perspective.
Always ask the oldest question in the playbook
W.I.I.F.M = What's In It For Me
In 1970, IBM used what's known as FUD marketing – Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt to sell computers, preventing people from buying from their competitors.
Fear works really well.
Even sites like the BBC use the same technique. See some headlines here. What do you notice?

Yes, there is a war going on. But at any season or time of year, you'll see negative news and find fear being promoted everywhere.
Because fear and "FOMO"... drive clicks.
The people creating content like "This changes everything" or "I made this AI agent to retire my RM100,000 content team"... are creating that purely for content.

So they get clicks. Grow their subscribers. And hopefully, sell viewers something later on – a course or service.
Where attention goes, money flows.
Ironically, that's the basis of my work as a marketer. But this means I'm able to take a step back and see from above the surface: What's in it for them?
- Why are they posting this "miracle" workflow?
- What is the ulterior motive?
Here's an example I saw in my inbox:

Do you really believe the CEO of a multi-million dollar company, in the midst of navigating a fast-moving AI market, one where no business knows what's coming and isn't exactly safe... works 4 days a week?
I find that hard to believe.
Yes, it sounds sexy. But what's the ulterior motive?
Ahh, he's proposing you use Fridays to learn AI, and then he proceeds to promote a summit. Got it.

Again, nothing wrong here. It's a smart way to market a summit. And I've no doubts that people will receive massive value from attending the event.
But to my point. Whenever you see something online, always ask: What's in it for them?
And don't be afraid of getting left behind in the AI race. Stay on top of things, but allow things to settle down a little. You definitely don't have to rush out to buy a Mac Mini to install OpenClaw.
Everything is changing fast in the world of AI. But if I were to bet where this is going, it will be a world where AI agents will be accessible to all, without the need to install special equipment. Just like how we have access to self-driving cars.
Enough of the hype. How are marketers really using AI?
That's what I want to solve at Underdog AI Con. (Yep, it's here!).

Expect actual real breakdowns, behind-the-scenes, and case studies from marketers doing the work. We'll be curating a list of speakers sharing their AI marketing processes and outcomes.
We're securing a venue for Underdog AI Con and will share it soon.
